Powerlifting cycle log

And done!! I had a great meet and did really well! While watching the flights of lifters go before me, I realized the judges were calling the squats VERY deep. Almost dangerously deep. The rules in powerlifting state that the surface of the thigh at the hip must pass below the surface of the thigh at the knee to be considered "legal depth" but they were calling them MUCH deeper than that, and many lifters were missing their squats because of it. So I knew opening with 675 would be a better choice than 700. And I was right, 675 was a breeze. Next squat was 705, and again, a breeze. Last squat I called for 733. And I just missed it. I didn't have enough power out of the hole after going that deep to finish it. But now I know what I need to work on for my next meet and that 705 is still a 55lb meet PR. Bench was a smoke show! I opener with an easy 575, called for 600 on my second and nailed it, I felt so good after the second that I called for 633 on my last and pressed it as fast as my second for a 78lb meet PR. I felt like I had another 10-15lbs in me. Deadlift... Ugh. I've gone this entire training cycle without any sciatic nerve pain from an old injury from years ago.. But during warmups for deadlift, it started to flair up. When that happens everything over 315 hurts like a motherfucker. I lowered my opener to 552 so I could at least finish the meet. 552 went up easy but very painful. I called for 600 just so I could at least pull my training max, and missed it on my second. The sciatica hurt so bad I couldn't finish the lift. Now I'm angry, so I called for 600 one last time and got it easier than my opener. I ended the day with a 1938 total which is a 178lb meet total PR. Not the 2k I wanted and I know I had 660 in me to deadlift if that old injury hadn't flared up. But I'm still very happy with how I did and how my cycle went. Thank you all who offered advice and encouragement these last 20ish weeks. Now a couple weeks off and I'll be 15 weeks out from my next meet!

Good god man those are some lifts. Congrats. Sorry to hear about the sciatic flare up. That's a bitch. But what a set of PRs!
