Altitude training

Well by chance and my job I am headed to Colorado this weekend for a couple of weeks or so. I guess it will be forced altitude training so to speak. LOL never been there whilst training anyone in the area or has trained there to prepare me for shortness of breath or any pointers that I could use to avoid any pitfalls

Your body will adjust rather quickly. It affects some people more than others. The body is an adaptive machine, just give it time!

Yeah your body will adjust in a day or two

My former job used to send me overseas, sometimes to high elevations. I suppose every body is different, but I found elevation sickness and the like is all hype and not that serious at all.

It may actually increase and improve your endurance as you adapt to it, so look at it as an advantage brother

Ok ill be sure to pick some of that shit up, now lemme clarify I am going there for work not just to train!!! lol but I am excited about training in altitude I am sure it will benefit me in some way

All of this will benefit you at altitude. I have issues with altitude. I always run this protocol. I give(and used to take) the bike racers Viagra or Cialis before races at altitude. Also consider Neil med sinus rinse followed by Flonase. Have that in hand when going to altitude. I get stopped up badly in Colorado.

good deal man thanks for the input and tips I got the Viagra and triple x and will be packing it and will pick up some pedialite, and Flonase as soon as I touch down

its not something that is going to make you sick, or at least not likely unless you've never been in elevation, then if you go too high, its definitely possible... trust me the very first time i went extremely high in the mountains, i threw up the entire next day but it was an extremely high elevation and i was very young... when it comes to training, colorado is one of the best places to get into shape but trust me when i tell you, i don't care what anyone says, ive experienced it and have many clients that have the same, when you are in that altitude, it is FAR more difficult to do endurance training HOWEVER when you get to the level where your able to get past the initial difficulty, you have a huge advantage on vo2max and cardiovascular output by training in that kind of elevation... its night and day... so many professional endurance athletes move to colorado to specifically prepare for events because of the difficulty of training and what you can get out of it...

Definitely good to make the best of it while you are there brother!

I live in Colorado , Denver and the mountains are 2 different beasts. You will experience some shortness of breath in both places. But 13000 ft and 5280 are night and day. Drink plenty of water and then drink more water. If your not from here your body will produce about a gallon of extra blood while your here. There's a reason athletes come here to train , it's tough. Not too many teams come to the Broncos and win here. 2 more weeks of skiing left at keystone , if you board or ski I highly suggest it. We got dumped in this past 2 weeks with more on the way! Have fun !

That's pretty awesome. I know it's a hot destination for athletes in training
