Test/estrogen/sex drive question

Ahhh, the good ol' "it's just in your head" trick. Which in some cases it can be, I suppose.

But I reckon you should have told the endo place, that you'd already been there and THEY suggested you go see the endo.

Sometimes being a bit disingenuous is the only way to get things done with doc's.

Yeah its definitely possible in some people but the blood work never lies.

Exactly. Just re-reading your first post also. Your Free Test has barely even moved. Whatever Test increases you've got, it's all bound up and useless.

Your SHBG is also (in my local range) off the charts high. Our range tops out at 50 and you're at 48, then 58, then 52. Don't believe the ranges that top out at 70, that's nowhere near ideal. Lowering SHBG to get 2% Free Test is a good level to aim for, 3% ideally. Doesn't sound like much, but that's giving you 50% - 100% increases.

For comparison, on TRT Test and Proviron my SHBG is 13. Our range starts at 10.

If you can get it, throwing in some Proviron to lower that SHBG would do a world of good and helps libido in this exact way (also bumping DHT). But I'd assess that bloodwork as suggested again first. Because just staying on your AI is not an ideal long term solution IMO as we've mentioned, as one day you will just crash out.

The normal range for SHBG in my lab is 11-80 http://ltd.aruplab.com/Tests/Pub/0099375 I've already stopped the exemestane since its not working.

I forgot to mention that Im waiting on results for bloodwork for prolactin and DHT also.

How can I lower SHBG or up my free test? Any clue on why it would be so high anyway?

Yeah see that is utterly ludicrous. It depends on your Total Test as well, because if you don't have a lot, a greater percentage will be Free. But High Total and Low Free is not a good recipe.

That's good to hear!

Causes of high SHBG:
High Estrogen
Low Zinc
Low Magnesium
Poor Liver function - from drinking
Overactive thyroid
Caffeine/Coffee/Green Tea
Just genetic

Using testosterone usually lowers SHBG somewhat. Using cycle doses moreso again.

But taking something like Proviron designed to actually lower SHBG, lowers it best.

this sounds similar to me. i've had every blood test and still haven't solved it, although my test was super low unlike you. but i'll tell you if your current bloods don't yield any clues, make sure they test your igf1/serum levels, and cortisol to check your adrenals. i even did a 24 hour urine test. those might lead you in the right direction. i ended up having a pituitary tumor, might ask them to do a mri of your head. never hurts to rule stuff out.

also like someone else mentioend above, have you been tested for sleep apnea? daytime sleepiness, low energy, etc? dry mouth when you wake up. that can wreck you.

and depression/anxiety is very real, do you sit around and worry about things? etc. really think through your daily life and try to zone in on something.

Uggggh, I do have caffeine almost everyday lol.

So, they uploaded the results of my prolactin, but DHT isn't there yet. Weird, the others blood-work i've had always lists them all at the same time.

My prolactin is 15.28 on a scale of 4-15.2 .....I'm technically out of the normal range? They haven't called, but maybe they're waiting for the DHT results first, not sure.

Also, what do you guys think of the steroidology forum? It seems like its another version of this site with a lot of useful info and people willing to help. They have a topic where they list estrogen, prolactin, and progesterone info for gyno purposes... Under prolactin, they basically said it has no use in males and doesn't matter if you have low levels, but high is a different story.
I remember reading somewhere on here that you should have some type of prolactin levels, like estrogen. Not sure which is right lol.

Yeah that's not very ideal man, I like to see it in the 6-9.2 range. Doesn't sound like a lot of difference but just 1ng/ml is a HUGE step. We use mIU/L locally because the range (40-450 or 2 - 18) gives such a huge swing and is much more easier to see such big changes.

When I started TRT and my E2 jumped up, my Prolactin was 13.5 (283) You're 15.28 is (323). Big difference, you see? 40 points of mIU/L.

9.2, a good natural limit, is (195). So you're looking to lose 128 mIU/L.

By taking double dose L Dopa Mucuna Pruriens I dropped mine to 6.5 (138).
By taking Cabergoline, I dropped mine to 3 (63.6). Anything below that or even 4 is not wise IMO.
2 is (42.4) the absolute barest minimum.

You do need some Prolactin, just like you need some E2. So unfortunately you can't just obliterate it completely.

You want your E2 in the 18 - 28 range. And you want your Prolactin 6 - 9, ideally (or 138 - 195 in my talk).

damn mine was 24.7 and the endo didn't even mention it. makes me wonder if i should be doing something about it now.

Never heard of the pruriens before. How long did it take for those to work? Not sure if the doc will prescribe caber since its just at the tip of the range.

My estrogen never even got outta the 40's with exemestane 12.5mg ED for almost a month.

I don't get why normal ranges have so many differences in different labs and then if you come to somewhere like here, recommended ranges are drastically different than what any labs ranges will say.

chances are quite low your doctor will prescribe you anything for it... try the pruriens and see how it works... i would use it 6-8 weeks...
