After running basically a keto diet the last 12 days. I never been so sleepy in my life, is this normal?

Yeah I have no energy issues on keto myself. But the diet does call for a high carb day aka cheat day and felt so sleepy after eating heavy carbs aka pizza and some cake

You're lethargic after carbing up? Usually you'd be lethargic or foggy during your carb depleted period and totally focused and awake after your carb day on keto style diets. Do you know how many carbs you actually consumed today or just crammed down bad food? There's a difference in a cheat day and a carb day, and not all cheat meals are high carbs or even the types of carbs you can utilize....

It's actually quite normal after a huge insulin and leptin release following a refeed to feel tired and sleepy. It's the same type of thing that happens after a big meal like thanksgiving where you feel like taking a nap afterwards.

I'm no Doc. but I do know this... Insulin is like a key that opens up the locks on your body's cells
so that glucose (blood sugar) can get inside and be used for energy.

Bottom Line: The ketogenic diet (keto) is a low-carb, high-fat diet.
It lowers blood sugar and insulin levels, and shifts the body’s metabolism away from carbs and towards fat and ketones.

This may be why you're energy levels are low.

Is this something new to you? If so, your body/metabolism is going to go through an adjustment period before getting used to a keto style diet. The lethargy gets more bearable after awhile and the carb days will actually give you a huge boost. My most hazy, zombie-like times are the days right before carb days when I'm the most carb depleted. I feel way more fatigue in the gym and have a bit of a mental block, then a great two day boost after refueling.

anytime you deplete carbs your going to eventually feel shitty... thats why its just not sustainable to be low carb continuously... its too much... rick hit it on the head with his comment and its definitely comparable to eating at Thanksgiving... to each their own... i wont ever recommend nor partake in this kind of diet period...
