Hi Dylan,

Firstly thanks for all the videos you produce I find them very helpful, I'd love to see more of your training video's.

Might sound like a dumb question but what are your thoughts on protein shakes? Can you have two many of them? Are they better consumed with food or by themselves? Is certain types of protein shakes better than others.

You just got me thinking because in one of your videos, you talked about juices and how the body treats the liquid calories differently than solid foods and wondered if this was the same for protein shakes?

Once again thanks for all the videos and honest advice it's much appreciated.

It's best to get your protein from real food - lean meats and fish - eg. chicken, beef, turkey, salmon, etc. With that said, I use them to help increase the amount I get per day. I just couldn't eat that much chicken to reach my macros ;). Add egg whites to the powder as well for extra kick of protein.

protein shakes are supplements bro... a supplement is not intended to be used in mass quantities... yes, it will definitely help especially to add in extra protein with little to no fat but basing your diet around that is a major mistake and you will never get the proper nutrients you need to maintain your health, period... i would limit it around 2 shakes per day, 3 being the maximum... thats even pretty high but 2-3 is what i would stick with...

Protein shakes are just there to supplement your protein intake if you need it to hit our numbers. They are nothing magic. Of course you want to get most protein from whole food sources, but if you need the extra protein shakes can help. They are most beneficial usually following a workout because of the fast digesting whey protein in them

I have had no problem eating up to my protein macro's. Actually, when I tried drinking a (vanilla) protein shake after a long time not doing it, I nearly puked.

I guess my body likes the real food a lot more than a shake. Also, I am almost addicted to fish and chicken, so the protein is not a problem:)
