Hey everyone, so my doc prescribed propecia in the generic form of 1mg finasteride tablets. I'm familiar that this drug lowers you DHT to that of a male 12 year old and it was developed for an enlarged prostate. I was ecstatic ! However at that pharmacy, the pharmacist went over the side effects and well...man they're not very attractive at all. In fact, they've deterred me from using it so it's sitting on my shelf still. I read some people use it to prevent hair loss during a cycle, so maybe I'd get lucky and find a few people running it here.
I have an interesting question and food for thought here regarding this medication though. Naturally, an online search will reveal horror stories of permanent ED and such. This is really the only side effect thats scary along with permanent loss of libido, and also has the smallest % of yielding these side effects. However...In my opinion, when you search online for horror stories, you will naturally get them, because if the drug had worked, the patient didn't give it a second thought and moved on in their life. So are these hypochondriacs making these accounts and preaching the gospel of a horrible drug. Keep in mind that drug companies have to post the side effects, no matter how rare even if just ONE person experiences this. I'm not even sure the requirement for reporting in a controlled test, wether its by bloods or word of mouth by patient.
I went back to my doc and he said none of those side effects are permanent, and I voiced my concerns for about 15-20 minutes telling him what I read and he assured me its all temporary, I may not even get any side effects (boy what a wish right)? I DON'T plan on taking my first 1 mg tablet anytime soon. I figured I'd pop on here and see what's up. TBH, I have pretty nice hair for a male all joking aside, and want to keep it.
So what sayeth ye?
