Powerlifting/Strongman Thread

So I met a guy at my buddies gym that claims he is a vegan powerlifter...He claims he gets 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight a day strictly from a vegan diet. Now I will admit that it is possible to be a successful vegan powerlifter....I am not disputing that but I am bit skeptical that he can get that much quality protein a day from a vegan diet. Thoughts?

I am not sure if I am the only powerlifter/strongman on the board but I imagine that can't be the case with so many exceptional athletes I have heard from on this forum. Since training, nutrition, AAS strategies, and goals are often different from BBs, I thought there might be some interest in having a separate thread to post powerlifitng/strongman related topics. I hope it generates some interest and I will do my best to try and post topics regularly.
Hey man i am a inspiring strongman/powerlifter glad to know there is on on here. Could you help me out with knowing where i can find competitions and any other helpful starter tips you could help me out with.

Sure...happy to have you. Unfortunately, powerlifting federations are MANY! There are tons of them. ..so depending on what events you want to compete in, where you are in the country, geared or raw, drug tested or not tested, and what level you are at determines the best federation for you then he start with. Strongman is a similar situation. So any details you can provide would help me guide you bur really most I am going to tell you can be Googled but since I have been doing it for awhile I would be happy to help...There are several other guys on here that can assist to...again...glad you are here.
 
I live on the east coast for powerlifting i would do squat, DL, and bench events. Compete raw and unless i could take something to clean my system when ever drug testing is something i want to avoid. Strongman i want to just compete i love the sport and want to have a strongman gym one day. Only problem strongman is a very close nit thing so its hard to get into.

I would start with APF and APA...solid federations and alot of beginners in APF..as far as the strongman thing...yup...super tight knit community. The best way to get in...or should I say the way I did was by competing in local competitions and networking with the guys....The big ones sometimes show up at these (if they are local) and that is a blessing...it's a good way in

Bahahahaha! Tat is correct. Check out powerlifting watch.
Also look at IPA federation. Cheap to join and lots of east coast meets. I'll be at the June meet in York PA.

Tat, I'm pretty well rested this wknd Buddy, I'm ready to smash some weights this week!
I'm fighting thru the dreaded post cycle strength loss. Fighting to keep my numbers stable and not get hurt.
But Friday I was able to pull 495 and rack pulls up to 635. So no real drop yet.

Dude...In PCT????!!! Sweet! That is great news...keep me posted...excited to see the progress and hoping you keep all those gainz baby
 
Just curious what your guy's training protocol looks like. How many times do you bench/squat/deadlift each week? I currently do each 2x a week. Do you guys squat the same day you deadlift, if so do you squat first just like a meet? I currently deadlift first on Monday then do front squats and on Friday I back squat then deadlift.
I train all 3 twice a week. All on separate days. I deadlift on Mondays and wens, bench Tuesdays and Saturdays squat Thursday and sunday
 
Just put up 455x3 flat bench today. At 194 pounds still a little sick from a cold lol. I posted the video on my cycle log if anyone wants to see it.
