New raw flat bench PR

The older I get the less I care about how much I lift and the more I care about how I lift the weight. I think PR's are great, but I try to be as safe as possible now. Injuries suck lol.

That is what drb hammers all the time. It is about your personal time. You focus, concentrate, and become each rep. Full awarness of your body moving the iron, for the purpose of muscle and might. Sounds like him...lol. The amount of weight means NOTHING. The guy who just hurt himself with 600lbs actually told me today that drb warned him at least a dozen times to stop the showing off. DrB promised him that he would be hurt within one month. This is not why we heave hoe the iron bros.

Yep, you should always check your ego at the door and lift smart.

i agree... my main focus is always on my form... its FAR harder to do heavier weight if your form is spot on yet you get the most out of it doing the less weight to do the form properly... there's a reason there is a "form" as that's how your SUPPOSED to do the exercise to get the most of it... i see motherfuckers looking like they either have tourettes or are going into convulsions doing 10 reps... i just shake my head... its just ridiculous... form and grit are when get the growth... pushing through when you feel like your arms or chest are falling off, etc... not doing 2 sets in an hour but throwing up a ton of weight on both sets... that doesn't get you anything... i want it all so i take my time in there as serious as you would ever imagine each day... i bust my ass as hard as i can possibly go the entire time and im ready for bed when im done... THAT is how you work out...

Technically it's a no lift off, no spotter PR for me. Ever since I tore my pec benching 4 years ago I've stayed away from heavy lifting with no spotter, but today I was feeling diesel and pounded out a few reps at 405. It was pretty funny because I went thru my usual warm up and routine and when I slapped on 405 about 6 people stopped what they were doing to watch from a distance. I pounded them out like it was nothing, except for the last one- got stuck for a split second at 3/4 rep then finished it. Got up and it was like someone died it was so quiet. I should find a spotter and really kill them, but alas my mentality says "If there's nobody to bail you out, you must lift it.". I love my gear. Don't judge me.

Fckn right bro!

Nice brother...don't know how bad a pec injury puts you out but I had 2 shoulder injuries to put me down for 6months. Glad your doing good!!

Nice! Form is how you turn that piece of clay into nice pottery

Man id love too get better chest workouts in my elbow is tweak for the last 2 months pressing motions hurt like fuck ive been stuck super setting incline on the smith machine at about 40 percent high rep with cable flys just too get a pump anything heavy and it feels like theres a knife in my elbow

Il still press with ya 44!
Haha I love flat bench still. My purpose is for strength.
People just need to take thier ego out. Lift what you can or work to a goal but be smart. The people that fuck up already know they were in the danger zone before they went for the lift... Just how it goes.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes in training. Some like aesthetics and some like beast strength. Some go for both.

Glad you agree, for a moment I felt ostracized for benching still lol. It is one of the fundamental compound lifts after all. True it can be done on a Smith, or Hammer Machine and of course safety is paramount when you get into weights that won't just bounce off you, but I still like being able to heft up some weight bro. I see it all the time, quarter reppin at the Smith, ten plates on the Hammer... granted the Smith weight is the actual weight- just in a controlled plane of movement and the Hammer...sure it looks great to the betches, but c'mon man it's like the equivalent of 275 pounds feel-wise maybe. I checked my ego long ago and only put up what can be repped. No room for 1's and 2's. Six to eight is the minimum, with 12 being the desired standard. Like i said, I do let a bit of tude' out when taller guys feel froggy, but it's all in jest. Bench it, bang it, send em' home with renewed respect for the 5' 9" guy. Certain exercises I know are shit for me I just can't stay away from...bench press, deep squats and db lunges. Although I have to admit my arm ROM sucks and I can no longer hold the bar when I squat and am relegated to the Smith for those... call me a pussy, but these T-rex arms fucked me. Flexibility is a bitch bro... at least on the corner of 22 Inch Ave. and Guns Up Drive lol.
