Lasting side effects from Tamoxifen

Hi Dylan,

I am from Germany and I would be grateful if you could give me some advice on a special problem. I took Propecia (Finasteride) against hair loss a long time ago and I developed side effects such as erection problems which didn't go away even after discontinuing the medication.
In order to cure myself I tried Tamoxifen 20mg for a 6 days a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, the Tamoxifen made my erectile dysfunction worse: My penis became limp (much thinner/smaller and hanging loose). Even though I discontinued the Tamoxifen a long time nothing has changed. I am very desperate about that condition and I would like to reverse it. Do you have an explanation why I developed such lasting side effects? Is there a treatment option I could try?

why would you take tamoxifen to counter erectile dysfunction from Finasteride?? did you take blood tests to check you estrogen and prolactin?? 6 days isn't Crap bro, not long enough at all (if tamox is what was actually needed, we don't even know for sure)

we don't know anything unless you get a Blood Test done

im sorry but tamoxifen use for 6 days has NOTHING to do with any issues you have... the problem here is strictly finasteride... have you heard of PFS (post finasteride syndrome)? Look it up and you will see exactly why your having your problems.. if you can get bloodwork that will help as well so we can see what the problems are... have you ever used steroids? how old are you?

What you need to do is go do bloodwork to see where all your levels are. That's the only way you will know what your problem is and how to treat it. Without bloodwork it's all speculation

The tamoxifen wasn't the issue man. It's the finastride. You need bloodwork done, no 20mg is not too high for tamox but again, it's not the issue here.

After reading the side effects of that stuff I really see no benefit to it. I'd rather be Bald with my junk workin

That's exactly right. Finasteride is bad shit and the root of the problems here. I would not recommend it all, and the problems can be long lasting even after coming off of it

this literally has nothing to do with nolvadex... like i have said over and over and over and over again... google Post Finasteride Syndrome and if you still decide to use it, i question your sanity and perhaps would recommend seeing a specialist...

Yeah funny thing is dr like my urologist will just laugh at you about it..They don't even take it seriously or even believe you half the time..I been going through it for nearly 2 years and its like hitting a brick wall..You get no where with the condition...

That's because a lot of doctors could actually care less about your well being, and only care about treating a short term symptom without considering long term consequences

Dude! Look, until you get blood work done? Is no way to really help you through this! We are making educated guesses and guessing with you health is not wise!! Give us your stats, please! We need:
Age.
Weight.
Body fat%.
Height.
What else you ran.

I take exception to this dude! We try! Really do, but more than half our patients walk out after we tell them what to do and how to take your medicines and they do what ever they want! ”Oh really? You were given 30 days of antibiotics for your (insert condition here) and you stop taking them at 22 days of use because you feel better? And now your problem is back? Aaaah, you took the last 8 days of antibiotice and it did not any good? Know why? Because you did not kill all bacteria in you body that make you sick in first place! Now these antibiotics are not working because what you have has become resistant to antibiotice we gave you and now we need to do a Culture & Sensitivity test to figure what we can give you next to get rid of this________ once and for all and hopefully keep you out of here!”

Means you spend more money because you did not mind or follow simple directions!!

Trust me I've heard all about the inside and outside of the medical field bro. My brother is a doctor and my wife is an RN that has worked with doctors for the last 15 years. They've told me plenty

I know there are some good people out there in the profession but just like any job there are many that could care less. And a lot of the problem is doctors writing prescriptions for things that they had very little education on....like general practitioners prescribing TRT. Dylan and I have heard about every horror story you can think of when it comes to that of doctors just being way off base.

Get blood work done as soon as possible. Also ask your doctor to check to see if you have gut inflammation. Also research the GAP diet, it will probably help your situation as well. Your test levels are probably extremely low as a result of PFS. This is a link with references to the science aspect of it as well. http://www.pfshealing.com/key-to-curing-post-finasteride-syndrome-inflammation/...Keep us updated on your progress bro. Good luck

Well, I know that Finasteride is the root cause of my problems. Unfortunately, Tamoxifen made my ED somehow worse (I guess without the prior use of Finasteride, Tamoxifen wouldn't have caused an aggrevating ED). Finasteride blocks the 5ar enzyme so that DHT is reduced. Has anybody an idea what treatment I can try to get rid of my ED.

part of the problem is a lack of true understanding on a particular issue, where many doctors are just not familiar with proper protocols and how to truly treat issues relating to testosterone, estrogen, etc... they go to "their" books, which are filled with nonsense and then the issues arise... ive seen it time and time again.. its not a lack of care, its a lack of understanding but that goes along with care... if you truly dont know exactly what to do in a situation, instead of trying to just act like you do you need to get the proper info so the proper treatments can be given, otherwise, you can ultimately hurt someone far more than help them...

Folks here need to listen to Dylan..If you don't have pfs you have no clue what your talking about...Drs don't either..There is NO treatment...The condition is SERIOUS and LIFE ALTERING..You do not respond to hormones, drugs, thearpy etc..the way normal person does..Drs have NO clue as to what has happened..All they know is what the drug companies tell them about a drug...Now I am not saying there is NO help..Some have improved with clomid etc..Some have not and some have improved by doing nothing but waiting and taking a natural approach..But please don't talk down to someone with this condition..Life itself becomes a struggle day to day for someone suffering from pfs...Myself I got NO sexual side effects but got devastating physcial and mental side effects..I will post my labs I already paid for the testing...But you can go to sites like Propeciahelp.com and solvepfs and others and read from many people who have already been through all of this and see their labs for yourself...IN fact people need to go there and read up on this terrible condition and educate themselves all they can..http://www.propeciahelp.com/overview

Hopefully with time and some help we can get back to a more normal sense of physical and mental well being..
