Hello my name is Joe, I'm from Denmark. I just got accepted into a college in the us to play soccor. I've been told I need to put on some muscle otherwise the strong college guys will kill me.

About me: I'm 20 years old, 85kg, I don't know my body fat, but I can see some abs.

I'm here to learn about nutrition because my knowledge really lacks here, my diet is really not the best. Besides nutrition I'm here for tips for workouts.

Looking forward to be apart of this forum.

If you have access to a good strength and conditioning coach, he or she can show you compound movements like the Olympic lifts that can safely add size and strength and explosiveness. Eat lots of single ingredient foods like meat, potatoes, vegetables and greens. Do not fall prey to the desire to add weight through processed foods and fast foods. Young American football players sometimes do this and face a lifetime of obesity and other ill health effects. Get more sleep than you think you need. Maybe write an email to your coach and ask his advice or for a referral to the college's strength and conditioning coach. Congratulations and good luck.

Thanks everyone! So today I got my meal plan I need to eat 2000 kcal a day for the first 3 month. You guys think putting on muscle will slow me down in terms of sprinting speed? Since muscle weigh more than fat.

Ive never known soccer players to have to be big and strong. The greatest player currently Lionel Messi and hes under 70kg!

What position do you play? Unless youre a central defender then you wont need to be much bigger. 85kg is plenty if youre lean like you say. You do want some speed and athleticism in your game, although it wont do you any harm to weight train.

I mean damn im only 90kg after years and years of steady weight training , solid diet etc. You have a great build already, you don't need to more 'muscle' . Maybe you meant strength.

i agree all the way with this... it would not make any sense whatsoever for a soccer player to attempt to be massive or huge in any way... thats actually quite detrimental...
