That is the most idiotic cliché ever. No one and I mean no one ever did anything great by not pushing themselves as if your life depends on every rep.
Sometimes we do get hurt. It is a risk reward thing.
I do not think I can be anything I want. As if.
What I do think is that I can get better - way better - at all kinds of things.
I listened to my body yesterday. Leg day. Just not that tired or sore at all today. Obviously I had more in me.

Your brain will tell you stop way before you can. I made this mistake for years.
 
For sure Mr. EZ_E. Put any injury into the mix and its mind goof city.

ANY movement; if you do 12 reps and rack the bar, dumbells easily then you just did another warm set. If you're last 2-3 reps don't have you red in the face, veins popping out of your head then you just wasted a few minutes of your life. I have leg press videos of myself that I still don't think is me.

(just some guy just as ugly as me who is moving weight with a purpose)
 
Right Mr. EZ_E It is not the first 2 , 5, 15, 20 or 50 reps. It is the last ones that burn and sting that matter.
 
Great post, great attitude... in the gym, effort often separates the people staring from those getting stared at. Unless you're just a fucktard doing everything wrong af. I need to work on my analogies obviously...
 
It's why leg day is my favorite day. I can literally punish myself until I can't walk and then I know I've put in somewhat quality work.
 
I highly advise video taping yourself. Most of you have your phone out to text 100x, make better use of it. Then you see yourself half assing it.... Ready for a reality check? Shit changes quickly after that.

Ive actually been doing that lately taking video of myself, so I can critique form, rep speed, etc from that perspective. You see things much differently than you do in the mirror performing the exercise. That's for sure
 
Fuck... if I taped myself I'd be telling myself I'm small the entire time.
