Friend needs help passing a technical job related test

I have a friend who needs to pass a technical test. Everyone in the group has passed, and we are afraid if he doesn't pass ASAP he will be let go. Everyone has tried to help with review questions, formulas, and theory. He has worked in this field for 20 plus years and always gets his work done, but it seems like he has a problem with test taking. A common problem is not reading a question complete before answering, and after reviewing one formula he will try to use it for questions that are not related. At times, it almost seems as if he has a learning disability.
I thought about having him go to the Dr to get a script for modafinil, or a beta blocker, but I don't know if they would help anyway. Does anyone have any tips on test taking?

Sounds to me like he may have ADD, so have him talk to his doctor about it

Beta blockers and modafinil are the wrong answer. Not reading a whole question before answering it isn't ADD either that's just carelessness sorry to say. If he has a learning disability a doctor will have to see to that. I have ADD and I read questions 3 times before answering. If he gets anxiety on tests then L-theanine could help like 44 said

He do not need beta blockers. Try Ginko Biloba and Lecithin. It sounds like he is in too much hurry or can not stai focus properly. I suspect he may have a Phosphatydil Choline imbalance, not a big deal. Lecithin will fix that since brain weight is 40% lecithin any way!

Bro. Bro. Bro.

Beta blocker? No. Not even close.

Have him study.. Drugs don't make you smarter..

I know.. Been on Adderall ten years. If so I would be a prodigy by now.. Lol

He has been studying 2 hours a day 5 days a week for two years!
The field is industrial automation, he is considered a subject matter expert.
Bro, judging from the response to your gear, you are a prodigy!

Good to know,Ginko Biloba and Lecithin. I'll pass it on.

Unfortunately some people are just really bad at taking tests, it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with intelligence nor ADD. Take an extreme like asperger's, one that is in tune with hearing. They won't be able to take written test but they'll ace an oral test. There were some students at the college I went to that were able to request written exams be given as an oral exam due to similar reasons.

Yeah, the guy might just be screwed.

I took a sample of this product called " Think Clearly" by Super Nutrition a couple of times. The stuff works wonders, I was literally doing 4-5 tasks at the same time. I meant to buy some for days when I feel lethargic and have lack of focus but I forgot and now I will order some. SO I highly recommend it for your buddy.

well said and very true

im going to be honest, and this is my reality... i made deans list in graduate school every year and why? well as soon as i smoked pot before each class EVERYTHING became far more interesting, easier to soak in, etc... this is what has always worked for me if i find something very boring, like biology for example, i hated it but this got me through it with an A... it doesn't work for everyone but it always does for me...
