The claim is that vacuums activate the transverse abdominis which is the hardest to reach layers of the abs.
The vacuum truly works. I have my clients do it so when they are on stage the core stays tight and pulled in. Basically when performing the exercise you are strengthing the muscle under your abs which helps pull the waist in. It's also effective for noncompetitors too. It aids in support of the spine and pulls the waist in.
Cool,Thanks MP
No problem! Try it for a few weeks. Every day when you think of it. I do it at stop lights and try to hold it the whole time lol. You'll notice the difference in a few weeks
It does work, but it's one of those things that some guys are going to have the genetics to do successfully and some are not. It's somewhat of a lost art but is starting to make its way back more with the classic physique and more attention to aesthetics
Is there a right way & a wrong way to do it?I want to make sure I'm doing it right.
You know, I really couldn't tell you lol. I've never really tried it myself but I really need to work on it. Especially if I plan on competing in this classic physique division
You can do it standing, sitting or on all fours. Take a deep breath then blow out as you pull your naval to your spine. Pull it as hard and as long as you can. It's like other muscles squeeze it hard.
