Do not eat tilapia

I never eat this fish. Wild caught is ok but it's hard to find.

Try the tilapia from Walmart with carbon monoxide in the ingredients, not bad.

LOL

most tilapia is farm raised and that is the nastiest shit on the planet... ive never been a fan of it myself, even wild caught but ANYTHING farm raised should never even be looked at unless you like to eat pure shit, then by all means, eat away

Most everything farm raised is horrible. There are some farm raised that's not bad, you have to check your source. This is a large part of my brother's field, he is a research professor at a University and has lead many studies on fish/shrimp farming among other aquaculture studies and there are ways to mitigate the problems. Obviously many companies will take the quick/cheap route. A lot of farm raised seafood comes from Thailand, which is wrought with no aqua farm regulations.
i fucking cringe at the though but thanks for sharing the insight bro! its nice to have an inside look on things

Although I personally agree that farmraised fish is crap .There is some ignorant bias in that article and I personally can't stand misinformation so here goes . comparing the omega 3 content of salmon too tilapia is absurd omega3 are fatty acids of course salmon has far more it has about 10 grams of fat per too serving where tilapia is crazy lean and has less than 1 gram . also stating it has insane amount of omega6 fats ( still essential) is also ridiculous because yes the ratio of 6s to 3s is scewed it has barely an fat at all so not the place you would go for your fatty acid needs its a protein source . ok rant over and yes farm raised fish is corn fed garbage but they exaggerated quite a bit and no it will not cause the inflammatory response of super high fat sodium laden bacon geez.

There you go, SOME farmed raised are "ok." Like what, 10 out of a thousand? I mean really? Thailand? Wtf?! Why?

Well then explain the heart harmful omega-6 tilapia is loaded with.
Talipia is less than 1% fat its something like 99.2% fat free there is barely any fat for the omega-6 to be found. I mean of course omega-6 are bad and they do exist in talipia but its less than 1 gram and out of that 1 gram of omegas there is still a tiny amount of omega 3, just not enough for it to be considered a healthy ratio. Its an extremely minuscule amount of omega-6. There are higher amounts of omega-6 in peanuts and tree nuts like almonds for example than there is in Talipia but we all know almonds are great for you. Its all about the amounts of omegas first and foremost and the ratios of the omega-3 to omega-6. Almonds are great because they are high in fat and the ratios of omegas are very favorable.

Tuna fish has very favorable omega 3 to omega 6 ratios but its still not "healthy" at all in that aspect because tuna is incredibly lean like talapia it would be ridiculous to say my tuna is healthy because of the high amounts of omega 3 cause its so small there is really no benefit there like there is with salmon which is really high in fat.

I hope this makes sense.

There is a butcher in my area that sells locally farm raised talapia and a few other fish like trout and perch and I honestly have no idea what the conditions are really like but they claim that they are as clean as you can get with farm raised products.

Also you can get those huge giant wild caught talapia at sams club/Costco that still have the scales on them and they are practically frozen alive. Its a pain to scale them yourself but each one is like 4lbs of meat and its worth the piece of mind.

Who knows I could be eating pure garbage, you never know cause after all the suppliers can simply just lie about the conditions they are raised and caught. Ive always been scared of that tbh but i honestly believe there are honest, organic farmers out there that don't only care about money. The larger corporations are a different story.

Id never trust fish that came from China/Thailand.
