Absolutely. I deload every 8 to 12 weeks depending on my blast. Many benefits and it gives me a chance to recover plus gives my joints a break before hitting it hard again. Then again, I'm an advocate of DC training like Rick so I've always looked at it as a necessary part of the process. What I do for my deload is this: I scale back the training frequency/volume over a 10 to 14 day span but I keep the intensity the same. Basically allowing more days to recover in between sessions.
It's a training style set up around low volume, high frequency, hugely focused on incorporating progressive overload, rest pauses, and extreme stretches. I love it man. I've done so many different training styles over the years but I find that my body does really well with this style of training. I tried switching in high volume again a few years back and I just felt like recovery wasn't the same. I always end up coming back to DC. Of course everyone's body is different so you have to know how you respond best to volume, frequency, training techniques, etc. This is just something that works damn good for me. Rick is another guy on here who trains primarily DC..
Yep. I didn't workout really for 3 months before my last cycle and I finally broke 200lb after. It's a fantastic idea.

I actually plan mine to where I only deload on the peak of a cycle. I push my self crazy hard when I cruise or would be off cycle. I do primarily power training off cycle too. Strength is not something I need AAS for.
The timing of it makes it perfect though because on cycle I do my deload. I train less and still grow. I eat less and still grow. Just gotta find your timing to where it works for you and you don't feel shity. Obviously if your in a shitty mood workouts are generally less productive. Just play with some different options and you will find your sweet spot.
Especially if you blast cruise. What I do may benefit you a lot. Let the gear do the work. It will prevent you from compromising muscle tissue due to diet tweaks and training adjustments.
Being off cycle or on cruise and deload? Ya... FUUUUCK that. That would be miserable.
