Crossfit set itself back 100 years by simply existing and drawing in hipsters, skinny fats, and semi-muscular dudes who open up gyms in every town selling overpriced "weight loss workout programs" to dudes that dont lift into a fitness fad of lifting but somehow still being better than bodybuilders due to them having "functional strength" while still eating fast food and having abs and televised competitions even tho 5 years ago they didnt even exist. 10 years from now they will be just as popular as they were 10 years ago.
No offense to you Capt. Joe, this is just my observation.
Actually it's been around since 2000 and it's growing more and more every yet. Sorry you had a bad experience where you were it happens. They have bad coaches and bad box's just like that have bad trainers and globo gyms. The box I go to is full of people from 13 to I think out oldest couple is 76 and married 60 years. We have regional games athletes deadlifting 500+ squatting 500+ for reps, cleaning 365+ snatching in the 300s. And 90% of the compedative athletes are 5 to 7% body fat year around. An the guys at my gym eat burger King once a week on cheat but follow strict meal plan with nutrient timing to him them perform. And most of them look better year-round than what bodybuilders look for those two weeks.
Anyone can go into a globo gym and pick up dumbells. Not just anyone off the street can go into a gym and do a clean and jerk or snatch our snatch balance or handstand push-ups can you?
Can you at any given time just go run a 5k and not really worry about endurance? Or take your kids to a fun run a keep up.
It takes hard work amd dedication to build muscle like you guys do and I have the utmost respect for that.
It also takes hard work and dedication to build the muscular endurance that Crossfitters have.
Sadly you do have shitty gyms and coaches who don't know Jack and make us look Back the same goes for the trainers where you get a cert off the Internet.
I went and lifted with my buddy who is a body builder and I could not finish his chest workout and when he comes with me he is outside puking and has trouble finishing.
At the end of the day everyone is striving for the same thing, they want to look better naked, they want to feel better about them self, and they want to live a healthier lifestyle.
I know you said you only commemted.off what you have see but it's not like that everywhere. Just like they don't have disrespectful meat heads who talk shit about all the people trying to get in the gym and feel better about them self.
As to the post GW and SR will give you the effect of a 3rd lung. Good luck in the open if you are competing
