Cheat days ???

So do you guys have a cheat day? Is it every week biweekly or monthly? If so do you still watch your caloric intake or is it no hold barred? Would love to hear any and all I am thinking of maybe once a week, but in the back of my mind and everywhere else in my body I am thinking, "Hey dickhead you did 4 and half hours of cardio, and kicked your own ass all week why the F would you do that"?

So lets hear your thoughts

I do not be.ieve in cheat "days". That can really set you back a lot. I do however, incorporate cheat meals myself a couple times per week. The main thing is if you are going to do them, figure out how they fit into your diet plan. Mine are all calculated and figured into my plan to not set me back any. It works well for me because I'm already very lean (7-8%) and am just trying to maintain this leanness. It works well with the amount of cardio I do on top of the 90% clean eating.

In my opinion if you are trying to get lean, you need to forget about cheat meals for the most part, and only have one sparingly at rare occasions. Otherwise you'll end up spinning your wheels and get nowhere. Set a goal, and accomplish it. Cheat meals can help you satisfy cravings and give you some sanity, on top of giving you something to look forward to, but they have to be planned and done accordingly for your goals or you will waste a weeks worth of progress in a sitting.

As far as in my situation and trying to gain lean mass with a super high metabolism and having a hard time gaining weight would it be more detrimental to miss calories and carbs for a day? I would assume so because I am very lean and in the 6.75 to 7% range. Honestly I have a hard time fitting in with the guys in my gym who are using gear because they are all going for the super sized water filled look. I frequently hear them talking among themselves about gear they use and caloric intake, which is extremely high, but I have yet to see a defined abdominal muscle or distinctive muscle fiber...period. I usually get around 3k calories of healthy, low cholesterol food every day. Much more than that and I feel sick all day and unmotivated even with 6 small meals. Although sometimes my medication kills my appetite. I still try to get enough protein and other needed nutrition through supplements. Although I know food much is much better I would rather do that than vomit and get nothing. Am I correct in doing so?

If you are looking to gain, you should never miss meals or carbs in a given day. It appears you are having a hard time getting in all of your calories. Even if you like the lean look, which I do too, you still need to find a way to get your intake in for growth. The fact of the matter is that you just can't and won't grow without the right fuel. You just have to keep pushing to get those calories in. Over time your body will adapt to higher food intake and it will become easier. You need to track everything, and get in as many meals as you can. In your case, it may be beneficial to even allow yourself some more calorie dense meals like cheat meals every couple to few days to help you get those calories in even more

Oh ya I forgot to mention I am trying to cut BF% so I am definitely not thinking of a high caloric cheat day, I was just asking in general. I will still be careful because I have busted my ass I am in a deficit but when I do get to where I wanna be BF wise I may think about a cheat day. Until then I will resist it, actually I don't have many cravings and when I see shit on tv or what my coworker eats I kinda cringe. Like you said everyone is different and reacts different with food, gear or anything so some can afford to have a cheat day and some cant right now I know I cant.

I guess I cheat a little. Maybe 3 beers. Sometimes more than normal cashews, maybe a nice big chunk of cheese. If you mean like to pig out on ice cream then that would be big hell no. If I cheat like that I always regret. I dont eat sweet stuff and if I do I get friggin goofy. Plus I have just lost my taste for crap food. So chips and candy or that kind of stuff I have no use for. I guess my cheat is way healthier than some folks stict meal. My main cheat is cashews, then cheese. I cheat like that maybe every week. I will eat a full cup of cashews when I cheat. Normally I eat a half handfull.

Very hard days for me, I can't afford more cheat day's, I've had to many, can't loose weight on them lol

Changing my life around one day at a time!!

I guess it all comes down to your goals and how serious you are about them, my goal right now is to be big so for me to do that I guess I fall into that category you were talking about I'm not 6 or 7% bf and hey I'm cool with that because I decided I wanted to be large. As we all know you can't grow without eating so I eat and I eat and I eat.... when I get to my ideal size I'll cut up lose what bf I got bulking and probably let it stay around 8 to 10% because I have no want to walk around at 6% it just ain't me. Back to the topic I don't like the cheat day saying but I eat things very lean people would consider a cheat meal but to me it's a grow meal lol.

i basically cheat 1-2 times a year if im lucky and that includes Thanksgiving which is a given for everyone... I WOULD NOT recommend what I do for anyone... i am an extremist... the fact that the next two days i have cheat meals lined up will probably give me mental anguish but it is my wedding and its once in a lifetime... generally, you should have a few every month as your body just needs it but it should not be an entire day or too often... obviously scenarios are different to be conducive with goals and you should enjoy your life as well so you should definitely be treating yourself at times, it should not just be a major habit... i believe 3-4 times a month is more than sufficient... unless you are bulking etc... then it would clearly go up however its not good too often regardless just in terms of your health etc...

Right obviously the fat fuck I am working with likes the bullshit, and I said maybe I will eat out with you 1 time a week or every 2 weeks. Now where do we go so I can look up the nutrional info. IHOP we would eat last year and I added up the calories for 1 meal and it was like 2800-3300 calories and I almost shit my pants!!!! SO I can eat the fruit and oatmeal and maybe 2 egg whites there hahaha. we shall see I haven't decided if I will or not. I know its not going to kill me, and I am not trying to be 6 or 7% BF at this point 15 would suit me but its baby steps 1 % at a time or when I feel like I have lost enuff. Im 44 im married, who the fuck am I trying to impress? other than myself and we all know we are our own worst critics. But if I see a few abs and get my baby doll legs back id be thrilled. Good discussion tho different angles from everyone for the most part all depends on the goals you want.

I enjoy my cheat days. But you cant go nutso either. But when i cheat its usually food that i eat but with more sauces or flavor and maybe a drink or two mixed in. But it still has a base of nutrition.

Dude-you better not have any cheat days! You cheated for years, so now it is time to payback. So how is your diet going? How much more weight have you lost?

Some good cheats for you. Jello instant pudding. Make with powdered milk and add 2 scoops of whey.
Popcorn air popper, or better yet use some mineral oil on the stove and pop a little popcorn in it. Will make you shit yourself if you use too much, so stay with 1 Tbl. The popcorn comes out nice and greasy with no extra calories. Add some butter buds.

Diet tiramasu- want that one?

If I cheat it's a little cheat like maybe hashbrowns with my eggs on the weekend or a frappuccino from Starbucks. One day I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and I felt sick for 3 days, was constipated, and it set me back a week... maybe more. Now I cheat in moderation only. Eating clean is now my lifestyle.

Ya I would only cheat with 1 meal on that day if I were to decide not the entire day. Still pondering but I doubt I will fall off the wagon especially when I think of the cardio needed to counter act it. LOL

Yeh IHOP is one of the worst places you could possibly go. It should be called house of carbs

Mby im lucky, or mby " pigging out " means something else here in the greate north, but im 9 weeks out of comp. and i have 1 cheat meal a week with positive results. Today im having home made pie and halfe a tube of pringles. Last week i had 4 slice's of pizza and a choco bar. I've lost aprox 2 lb and gone down from 8,1 to 7.0 %bf with macros @ 2900kcal. Ill be cutting the cheat meals closer to comp day, but i wouldnt say they've set me back much..

If you still have a ways to go, its best to just avoid the cheat meals all together.

Here's the thing that you have to realize too. The lower you are in bodyfat, the more you can cheat and still make progress. This is because your metabolic rate is through the roof and your body is like a furnace. Those cheats actually keep that fire burning and you maintaining fat loss....if you do them right. I did a cheat meal every single week while in prep, and even added in one more the final weeks leading up to competition because of my current condition and progress I was making. Everyone is going to be a little different, and it does depend a lot on body type, metabolism, etc, but generally speaking the fatter you are the less often you can cheat (maybe once a month or not at all) and the leaner you get the more you need to incorporate those chests up to once or twice every seven days. It's the same principle as when people do Keto diets and refeeds. You must refeed more often the leaner you are
