bcaa or protein powder

Not sure which area is best for this.

I had seen some guys take BCAA powder and some use a protein powder as well. I notice many protein powders already have a good amount of BCAA in them. I am wondering is there any major benefit to BCAA powder if you take a protein powder with BCAA in it? I know that bcca are needed and if there is not enough in the protein powder you probably should have it in there.

I've been pondering the same question. To your point, biologically speaking, protein breaks down into amino acids. I put aminos into my water and sip on it throughout the day. Just wonder if I am just pissing away money and any value from BCAAs. It does make my water taste good and it helps me drink more water through the day so I guess that's a plus! LOL
 
you dont even need protein powder after your workout.. thats simply for more calories... bcaas are what you want... leucine is the key to building muscle and the only reason whey is good after a workout is because leucine is in whey... i completely stopped taking protein powder after my workouts and switched to bcaa and its made a huge difference...
 
I personally use BCAAs intra workout, and have for many years. BCAAs do have their place and they can be extremely beneficial around training
 
Bcaa hands down. Especially if you use cellucor alpha amino. It also has gluatmine in it for faster recovery. I dont use protein powder i just eat PROTEINS.

im telling you, ever since i put more focus on bcaas, ive noticed a lot of difference and trust me, i do things one at a time when i make changes so i know what exactly is working and what may not be worth it... its definitely something to consider

That's really good to know!!

Along the same lines, has anyone had experience with bovine colostrum? I've been researching it and there are different thoughts about it. Some say it's awesome others say it's really doesn't make much difference than whey protein. Sorry, OP...not trying to hijack your thread. It just kind of fits in the same topic.

its too debatable... not something i use or have interest in using...
