Are steroids addicting?

I think there is a definite psychological addiction to them, because of seeing what they do to your body, how they make you feel, etc.....but there is not a physical addiction whatsoever.

Totally agree here. The compounds as such are not addictive, and your body can perfectly live without them once you stock using these. However, it is very hard to give up on all the benefits you get from steroids, and one will always stop to think, if they really are so bad, when they make you feel so damn good?

You know the other thing is a lot of individuals come from some hard times in life. A lot of times fitness for them became an escape or outlet to better a current situation. Some people view thier lives as saved from what they have accomplished. The benifits vs cons also make it very easy for someone to justify it all to themselves.

The gains are the thing that's addicting or the feeling you get when you feel like superman etc... that's the addicting part

Very physiologically however technically there is some physical dependants because you shutdown natural testosterone production and there is a time period of recovery after stopping so yes they are actually

the rush after a workout is addicting..the confidence, the POWER you get from them, the aggression, the manlihood, the dominant feeling, the alpha mind set, the respect you gain because of how powerful your body looks like, the strength increases, the enhanced sex, the way women look at you, etc..

IDK if steroids release dopamine in the brain but I do believe so thus the feel good superman complex, etc. maybe thats why after cycle some or most guys get depressed.. physically addicting like heroine, impossible. Psychologically addicting, absolutely.. You just feel GOOD when youre on, man, and who doesnt like feeling good while doing something they love and making rapid progress.. this was actually a question I wanted to ask a little while back but I already knew the answer to it & was in denial about it for a short period of time

That is a good point. If it weren't for fitness and bodybuilding, there are many out there that would have ended up down the wrong path. So when looked at in that light, everything encompassing the lifestyle can be extremely positive

Yes it is. I'll be the first to admit that at times (like the blast I'm on now), you don't want it to end. But I still when it's time to go back to cruising, and for me that's the difference between something being truly addictive like heroin or meth and something that you can have total control of, and keep your rational sense

People with an addictive personality usually trade one addiction for another.
AAS are not like opiods for example,(physically sick depressed vibrating vomiting and shitting your pants ) when you stop using.
The results you get from using AAS makes you NOT want to stop. I have been clean for 15 years sober for 25 and I believe AAS are the strongest most effective chemical/drug I ever used. Must be careful.

All depends how each individual is "wired"
I cycled around the turn of the century a few times, then stopped for 10 years, then started again like nothing happened. Didnt have any problem or even thought about it in between. Some people cant touch alcohol without big addiction problems, some people cant handle a cigarette, some people are addicted to porn. Its all in how you are wired.

some have far more addictive personalties than others... some have chemical disorders or shifts that cause this too... this type of thing can cause depression, anxiety, dependency etc... shifts in serotonin levels etc.. this is all treatable as its a chemical imbalance but it can cause a lot of problems...

Exactly. It's all individual to each person. That applies to many things in life. For gear, some look at it as another tool to aid them getting to the next level while some depend on it and struggle to imagine life without it. Numerous mental, chemical, and physical differences go into how each person interprets and reacts to things.

thats exactly right... if there's something GOOD to be addicted too, fitness would have to be at the top of the list and its really saved a lot of recovering addicts or others suffering from several other problems... its a bright light for so many... it changed my life as well.. it made me stop doing A LOT of the things I was doing that were wrong... its a true blessing for sure

I couldnt agree with this more..

Well, are there withdrawal symptoms from stopping use? YES. Does it make you want to use them more because it feels good? YES. So it's both physically and mentally addictive. It just doesn't get you high. It's like any drug or food that has a beneficial or pleasurable effect. Anything can be addictive simply because dopamine is released anytime you like something. Music is even addicting. Again, everything can be addictive.

Great point. People have "addictions" to virtually anything including drugs, sex, food, etc...

Brother Subs can lower your natural test. I have been on subs for years, and my doctor used to run labs to check my test levels, at the time they were in "normal " range. Please stay on your subs you might as well forget making any gains if you pick back up.
