Super High SHBG levels

I am new to the forums and I was hoping someone could help with a very frustrating issue.

Dylan has posted some great research in separate forums on thyroid and SHBG but I haven't been able to find any posts that talk about their interaction.

Due to a hypothyroid condition, I have been taking Armour thyroid for about 4 years.

One of the side effects of taking thyroid meds is that it can cause a spike in SHBG levels.

My SHBG levels are ridiculously high at around 110. I know, that's crazy high.

So,even though my total test levels are very high, my free test levels are still low due to it getting all bound up by all that SHBG.

Of course the goal is to find out what is causing the hypothryoid condition and someday stop taking the thyroid meds.

But, until that time, I need to find some way of knocking down my SHBG levels and freeing up my test.

Any suggestions?

how many doc's do you see? what types are they??

We can help here, but we need to know what real medical treatment your getting and what you could be lacking. What we have is good, but really spill your guts here buddy. We need to know everything.

I am 51 yrs old, 6'1", 210 lbs, fairly lean, weight train on a 5 day split, very clean diet.

I see a doctor that specializes in hormone balancing and he is stumped on this SHBG issue.

I am currently taking Test Cyp 200 pinned twice a week for a total of 350mg along with Arimidex .5 mg eod.

For thyoid meds I am taking Armour Thyroid 60 mg 2 x day.

Only other thing I am taking is a liquid multivitamin.

Switch out your arimadex for aromasin at 12.5mg EOD. Aromasin is superior to arimadex in that it is a suicidal inhibitor, and it also lowers SHBG and increases free test....exactly what you want here.

If you would like even more effect, I recommend adding Proviron at 50mg ED as well which will also lower SHBG.

Those are both great options, but first and foremost I would get on that aromasin in place of arimadex

How long should I wait to retest?

I am pretty sure I can have my doctor switch my script to Aromasin with no problems.

Once you have taken Aromasin for a couple weeks, I would retest to see where your levels are. I think that change with Proviron should give you exactly what you are looking for

Check your PMs. I'll send you a list for Biotech, which has some very good high quality Proviron.

well find one who will be down for a night of fun. take 50mg before you pick her up and 50mg 2.5hrs later.


Just dont break her hips.

I spoke to my Doctor and he agrees that the switch to Aromasin is a wise decision.

So he is prescribing the dose you recommended here....12.5 mg eod.

He also agrees with the recommendation of Proviron @ 50 mg ed, although he can't prescribe it here in the U.S.

At the end of the conversation he also asked me if I've heard of Masteron.

He said this also dramatically lowers SHBG.

Since I have a real medical reason (super elevated SHBG) he is investigating if he is allowed to prescribe it for that reason.

He wants to see how the Aromasin and Proviron combo works before we move forward with that.

aromasin + prov will do a good amount of work, but adding mast is a whole new game.

I dont think he's going to write you a script for that tho......just too risky on his end ( but idk, maybe he's that kind of doc ) but ive never seen a guy with a trt based masteron script online in 8yrs.


So GL on that one, if you do get it, fun times ahead.
