Rhabdomylosis

Yesterday I was admitted into the hospital with Rhabdomylosis, which is something commonly seen amongst crossfitters. I work as a trainer so on top of my own workouts I am working with around 50-70 people a week. I like to teach by actually performing all movements to help accentuate the proper form. My overall point with this post is to stress off time and recovery. It's been said a million times and I know a lot of people don't rest. If you're new to lifting, crossfit, martial arts etc, listen to your body. Don't read those douchy "no days off" memes & shirts and accept it as gospel. If you aren't resting you aren't growing, you aren't gaining and progressing.

Bud- that is not good at all.You had to have ignored many symptoms for quite some time. This can combine with a mental state and will be the desire to not thrive.Common in third world countries under duress, terror, bombings etc. This is damage to flesh of the spirit, and is way past overtraining, dehydration etc.
I am hoping what you mean is that you have a very slight case of it.This can be handled with rest, lots of water, equal proteins, fats, carbs.

If you have seriously metabolized your muscle, you may well have kidney damage.Again, I hope that this is not so. If your case is bad then it is time for members of this board to keep you close in our prayers. This is nothing to play around with.

It's a slight case for sure. They checked my kidneys first and foremost and there was no damage. My CK levels have been coming down since yesterday. It was only a few days in which I started feeling funny, no appetite, dizziness and vomiting. I went to the ER right then. They're going to keep me for a few days just to rehydrate me and monitor everything. I honestly thought I was just exhausted from working too much and traveling without adequate rest. Plus, working in a gym I was assuming I had a virus, too much contact with too many people. After a full 2 days with an IV hydrating me nonstop I feel much better. That plus the fact that I can eat again. I average a gallon of water a day plus 7 small meals all balanced out to the last macro. On Saturday I all of the sudden couldn't eat much, meat was grossing me out and so was pretty much everything else except for bread.

For the past few weeks my girlfriend and I have been discussing my work load and how it's damaging our relationship and time together. So I have already taken the steps to be sure that my work load isn't crushing me physically. My life is more important than helping others.

This is one of the things i have been stressing more and more... i was a 7 day a week person for so long and its nothing but detrimental... from the extreme cases like mark is going through right now, to the wear and tear, the slowing of growth, the overall physical fatigue, the mental stress, etc... its IMPERATIVE to get TWO days of rest per week... if your going more than 5 days a week, in general unless there's some special circumstance for an event etc., then your overtraining... its too much on the body... we are NOT machines and even machines need a break or they won't function... you MUST and i stress this, MUST get enough rest...

They actually discharged me today. I was getting scared for a minute because they sent clergy to my room to pray for me. I was pretty sure it was the end but then my girlfriend told me it's a Catholic hospital and they pray for everyone. I feel very fortunate.

Man I can imagine what you were thinking bro. Fuck that. I've seen a lot of death over the years and I'm glad you're alright bro. Take the time to rest and recover...mentally as well as physically. I used to think pacing oneself was for pussies till I started crashing my CNR by training too much. Takes a long time to get right again in several aspects.

It was the first time I have ever been truely scared but ready to deal. I had to call my daughter because it was her 9th birthday and had to hide how I was feeling.

glad you are doing ok bro. Been thinking about you. Jake sure as hell thought he was brain dead...I told him it was nothing new!! After the swelling in his brain went down we new he would be ok, but I have to say this...I did not see one tiny bit of fear in his eyes. When you know who you are no longer a ship with no anchor. You take it all on.We are the Champions!!

It took a lot of strength from within my mind to over come this.
