I was discussing my routine with a good friend who is doing very well in his working out and building efforts. He is 53, I am 52. In a nut shell, giving my workout space and the fact I was on a walker only a year before from back surgery, I have also endured atrophy of my left arm in 2012 from cervical disc rupture, pinched off the nerve.
I have worked my way back from the Abyss. I never used pain meds. I lost near 80 lbs thus far. I need to loose some more weight but thats taking time.
My routine is simple. I do 35 mins of Stair stepper Cardio then go into front arm hammer curls and alternate between free weight dumbbell curls and back arm skull crushers laying down. I get enough reps between them both so I can barely close my arms they are pumped maxed.I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL ON THE KIND OF ARM WORK FROM INJURIES. That is why I'm doing basic front and back arms.
I have built my left arm back to near equal to my right arm. I am left handed. I was able to test grip strength for my right hand at 135 lbs. My left was 125. So close but still less then it should be.
Cardio is going really well. I hydrate with 120 ounces of water before each workout. I do three a week.
I carb up with dried fruit and some almonds before workout.
Do a protein shake before workout for my morning meal. After workout, Inside of a few hours I eat salad with meats and veggies.
Feel good.
My friend said I should NOT do cardio before workouts with weights no more then 2 hours before or after. He said I need to conserve nutrients and energy for the weight lifting to grow those muscles.
I wonder if that maybe I should just do Cardio on off days and Weights on say Mon, Wed and Sat. Cardio Tue, Thursday and Sunday.
Is there any truth to this? Meaning is Cardio robbing the muscle building efforts I want by doing cardio in advance for the weight work?
PS I plan to do other muscle groups but given my orthopedic situation i have had to work back from a tough place. Getting there slowly.
Using 300Ms Test a week, split in two injections a week. nandrolone once a week 150mgs. Also taking 1mg Adex twice a week. My estradiol was way high and that fixed that.
