So I went to my doc to ask him about this drug and he prescribed me the generic finasteride with no problem. I go the pharmacy and the pharmacist tells me about the drug and boy...what a list of side effects. I'm not worried about most of them, if they were temporary right? Well, any search about this drug online gives you a list of horror stories.
These range from permanent ED to literally no side effects at all. It's a treatment for enlarged prostate but the drugs function is to reduce DHT to that of a male 12 year old, basically, hardly any. Now the question arises...are these hypochondriacs or what? Because here's the thing I'm sure not a lot of people have thought of...so of course with a drug with side effects like that, when you google it, you're going to get all these horror stories because...well if the drug does work, then the patient hasn't given it a second thought and of course isn't going to make a profile on a website with low traffic solely to campaign for this issue.
Now I have pretty nice hair (all joking aside) and I'd like to keep this. This is a gamble it seems, and my doc said none of those side effects are permanent, and he's never had a patient at least that had any of these issues. And rest assured, I DON'T plan on popping my first 1mg tab any time soon. It's been sitting for a few months, but I figured since Dylan has a video on it, this would be the place to bring up.
My second point before I open this up is thinking about all the prescriptions some of us may already take and I'm sure those have listed side effects too we don't think about. It doesn't mean they're common, but they do have to disclose it as a "possible" side effect, even if just 1 patient reports it. So, who knows right ?
So, what sayeth ye?
