The other day I transferred $ through WU and when I sent payment I got a email that my wire was put on hold. I then got a call from a WU worker and he asked me questions like if I knew who the receiver was and what the money wire was for. I replied with bs responses and then he gave the wire the okay and said it was okay to get picked up

Yeah, they're really starting to tighten up. There are plenty of other options out there now, especially if you know your source.

Happens occasionally... Best to say you're sending money to a family member or friend...
That happens all the time, with Walmart to Walmart once they started calling and asking things like that it would mean that name would be no good in 2 or 3 transactions. With western union there is another good thing to remember, let's say you send a payment to china, the next day it says it was picked up in Colorado so you think the guy ripped you off. That isn't the case, what actually happens is that they cancel the transaction and send it to western union headquarters which is in Englewood Colorado. When that happens you will always be able to get your money back, you just have to call the main customer service # and they will wire it back to you and even give you your transaction fee back.

Ya. And i answered them im not sure why yet again you are taking this route. As i stated previously please take up all matters regarding customer service with customer service reps. Although it seems you arnt really hearing me. Im not really sure why you continue this path.

I hate western union with a passion. This has happened to me before too twice. For whatever reason every so often something can get flagged and they ask for more info. From the sounds of it, things are only going to get worse as they have tightened up security even more. They are now asking for even more info like date of birth and birth name of the recipient that must be proven upon pickup. As stated it might be a non viable route for us here very soon

Yeah I think sources should start exploring other options. Something other then WU & MG cause after this incident I don't wanna wire through them again. It feels uncomfortable when they call me asking what the transfer is for

So are the Feds putting pressure on them or is this a move on their own accord? As a business and my trade is moving money with little to no hassle I really don't want to know what your small transaction is for. They seem to want to know a lot of information for a relative old fashion way of payment. There are way faster ways of transferring money now days without the hassle of getting your receivers personal information. I just don't see the long term future of these guys at this point.
So far, biotech has not changed them way he takes payments. In the future things could change depending on how things go
I think its the feds that are putting the pressure on the money transfer operators in order to crack down on illicit money transfers. With Operation Cyberjuice still fresh in their minds these operators are also taking it upon themselves to tighten security on their own.

Believe it or not for a vendor Walmart to Walmart is even more intrusive, They will start doing this after you use a name between 4-10 times, We have used wu names over 20 times before they started putting them on hold but we have probably never gotten more than 10 transactions from a name with wm to wm. IT can be easy to measure because when you change the name wm to wm is always the first one you can't use anymore until you get a new name. That strategy is obviously beat now but it worked for a while.
why do you keep doing this when your asked not to? if you do this one more time then im not going to have much of a choice with your status on the site... DO NOT do this again
thats not odd nor uncommon whatsoever bro... this is just how western union does things as everyone else is telling you... i would avoid them if possible...
