Can I get some love for the Titans and the Iowa Hawkeyes?????

Saturday evening... The impossible, even I thought it was... Me and my wife were planning on going to the Iowa vs. Michigan game several months ago but last month I told her I didn't want to waste money on seeing them get fucking destroyed.. Clearly they have the players, with most of them returning from a near undefeated team last year but its been a really down year... You saw their capabilities Saturday night and that just made their season and it sure fucked up the entire playoff seeding system... I am so proud of they way they played... Just an amazing performance against a team that truly seemed untouchable...

I do have thorough disappointment on the Saints completely blowing their game against Denver, especially with the opportunity to really close the gap on Atlanta for the division but luckily Atlanta did lose and so they did not fall too far behind... Every damn game they have lost has come down to the final minute but one... They are so damn close...

HOWEVER, HOW ABOUT MY MAN MARIOTA! I get a lot of heat about being a Titans fan but I have been saying it all year... Demarco Murray was a fucking steal... Many forget Delanie Walker is a PRO BOWL tight end and he and Mariota are getting more and more chemistry... Not to mention, they have back to back heisman trophy winners with mariota and derrick henry on the same team... EXCELLENT young receivers with Mathews, Sharpe and Wright and a weekly improving defense... they have a LEGITIMATE shot to win the division and I promise you that within the next 3-5 years, Mariota will be an MVP candidate and as brady, brees and roethlesberger retire, Tennessee is going to content for super bowls...

You know I had to hit you up knowing you were probably doing back flips with the Iowa win. Mariotta is the man, always has been since his days at UO... my Ducks aren't quite the same nowadays, but I still have fond memories of yesterday's past.

i appreciated that bro... I was still trying to figure out how they pulled it off but they really played like they are capable of like they did last year... I wish they would have put it together earlier but its still a great win... im so disappointed with oregon this year... i hate to say it but facts are facts and they need a coaching change, period... at least the ducks basketball team is fucking loaded.... preseason #5... MARIOTA IS THE MAN! they have a chance to make the playoffs... the division is very winnable... they just have to get past the texans... which they can...

Michigan maybe looking too far ahead?

What a crazy week in college football, eh?

i dont think they were bro... harbaugh does not coach that way and they are too close to the playoffs also knowing how dangerous it is to play in iowa city... they just got outplayed... it happens to everyone on any given week, we all know that and this was the week they just flat out got beat...

I gambled on both Super Mariota's Titans and the Iowa Hawkeyes to win this weekend....

Money in the bank.

It's not that Michigan was looking ahead, it's just:

(1) Any elite coach is a lock for a colossal upset each and every season, and Ferentz is certainly an elite coach
(2) College football features a much higher rate of home upsets over great teams than the NFL... attribute it to the emotional component of amateur athletes. Pros are PROS both physically and mentally/emotionally
(3) Michigan's worst starting player is.... the quarterback, who broke his collarbone & out for the rest of the season. When your QB is that inferior, your team is always on thin ice & just a matter of time until his ineptitude costs the team.

Point #3 is HUGE and extremely true... if your leader is already inferior then you are in some serious shit... they are weaker there but they are so great everywhere else, it was overlooked or basically they were able to get by... at least when the ravens won the super bowl with dilfer, he was a formidable qb... he wasnt elite but he didnt' make mistakes and made plays when they needed it... alex smith could win a super bowl on the right team because he doesn't make mistakes... those are the types you need on teams like michigan if they are not going to have an elite qb...

That's a great point about Dilfer: he was already a top-notch talent in the league, but injuries marred a well-respected QB in the NFL. Fresno State guys doing work!

As a former college QB, the thing I know to be a great player at that position is you must be great at one aspect to be a threat: accuracy, decision-making, arm, brain, feet, pre-snap, athleticism, leadership skills, etc. Speight appears to only have great size but average at everything else.

fuck i really like you man.. someone who actually gets it.. we could probably talk on this for days... fresno for sure... dilfer was a highly touted qb.. i remember watching him in tampa when they gave the vikings their only loss the year in 97-98 when atlanta played denver in the super bowl... the year cunningham and moss went fucking crazy... dilfer played a perfect game and beat them... i like qb's like that.. of course im all about guys like drew brees and mariota who are my guys but i respect guys like alex smith a lot... they get no love but they are so consistent....

Haha I'm telling you man, there's a shared brain between the two of us! It's great to see you have great recollection of Dilfer pre-Baltimore, that's a real fan of football talking. I hope Alex Smith steps up his downfield game this year & puts the haters to bed, however my Eagles and Raiders will have something to say in the playoffs...

Keep the great topics coming, my guy!
