Prilosec and Other PPI's

Curious how many of you guys or gals are on a proton pump inhibitor? I had a nasty bout of gastritis over a year ago which was caused by h.pylori. It caused all sorts of intestinal hemorrhaging, esophageal damage, etc. I had to get an upper/lower and colonoscopy to reach a final diagnosis (fun times!). Anyhow, to make a long story short, I have to remain on PPI's ALMOST indefinitely, or at least until my intestines are fully healed. How many of you are on PPI's or H2 blockers?

I would like to get off them one day, but I missed a few days and the rebound reflux was horrendous!

I get BAD acid reflux on Tren, and this summer I used some Prilosec for a while to help control it. It didn't do as good as I hoped so I increased my dosage against label recommendations. Needless to say, that was not a smart move at all! I had a whole weekend out of town with friends during 4th of July weekend doing various activities, and I had liquid ass, and required being within about 50 feet of a bathroom at all times. I was going every hour on the hour the whole weekend. It was miserable!

Moral of story, they can help, but don't overuse and abuse!

Woah! Lol that's a horrible, yet humorous story.

The problem with using PPI's like prilosec to treat occasional symptoms is they take 1-2 weeks to really start working, whereas Zantac and other H2 blockers will work to treat occasional symptoms.

I will never overdose now that I know it gives you pee bum haha.

Oh ya man, it was terrible. I forgot to mention that I had also dosed some Zantac for about 3 days prior to the incident also. So it may have been a result of the combination too. At any rate, I learned my lesson and I won't ever stack those or run more than suggested again lol

Prilosec is fine dosed at 40 mgs every day. And it's fine to use zantac with it. I know I'm Dr prescribed and been on it for years

Well I don't know man. It fucked me up big time, unless it just happens to be coincidence that I had some kind of other issue going on

A lot of people react poorly to prilosec. I do and that's why I have to go with pantoprazole (generic protonix). Prilosec makes me burp every few seconds when I lay down. It's annoying and I have to sleep sitting up. I wish I didn't react poorly because it's dirt cheap!
